Piezoelectric Materials

· Pressure generates charges on the surface of piezoelectric materials. This direct piezoelectric effect converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. · Conversely, the inverse piezoelectric effect causes a change in length in this type of material when an electrical voltage is applied. This effect converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. · Piezoelectric materials are everywhere and used every day

Objective: To demonstrate the piezoelectric effect in several materials and explain why this property exists in certain materials. Description: · The piezoelectric effect of a ceramic disk and a polymer film will be examined. LEDs will be used to demonstrate the piezoelectricity of these materials. · The influence of applied voltage on the polymer film will be investigated. · A musical greeting will be used to demonstrate real-world applications of piezoelectric materials.
